Robert Half Bookkeeper in Hiawatha, Iowa

Description

We are seeking a dedicated Bookkeeper to join our client's team in Hiawatha, Iowa. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, reconciling bank statements, and preparing financial reports. This role is essential for the smooth operation of our financial department and requires proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant software.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks software.

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions promptly and accurately.

• Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts on a monthly basis.

• Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes by providing accurate financial data and analysis.

• Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow projections to ensure the company's financial stability.

• Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.

• Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

• Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting-related issues and provide financial guidance as needed.

• Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulations and ensure compliance with GAAP.

• Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred or equivalent years of experience

  • Proven experience working as a bookkeeper or similar role, preferably in a small business environment

  • Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks

  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Familiarity with relevant tax laws and regulations preferred
